Le Havre

Le Havre

The port of Le Havre lies at the mouth of the Seine River that flows to romantic Paris, "City of Lights." Paris features the incredible treasures of the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur.

Attractions

Paris and the Eiffel Tower are synonymous. You see it from almost everywhere in the city. But don't miss the chance to go to the top. The view is breathtaking.

Activities

  • Spend a day getting lost in the Louvre. This fabulous, maze-like museum is home to one of the greatest art collections in the world, including the Mona Lisa.

  • Sail down the Seine in the shadow of the Notre Dame Cathedral. This famous cathedral is a beautiful example of gothic architecture and is where Napoleon and Josephine were crowned in 1804.

  • Stroll along the Champs Élysées, stopping in some of the world's finest shops.

  • Visit the Arc de Triomphe, built in 1806 to commemorate Napoleon's victories.

Food

The French are known for their cuisine, and Paris has many delicious examples. But to many, the true taste of Paris is sold on street corners throughout the city. Crepes are available everywhere, and with cheese or chocolate they're a terrific snack and a fun way to sample local fare.

Currency

The Euro (EUR), the currency of the European Union, is the official currency of France. Many stores and restaurants also accept major credit cards, which usually offer you a good exchange rate. When shopping, remember there is a Value-Added Tax added to most purchases.
